JOIN US ON DECEMBER 9TH FOR TIPS & TRICKS FOR MANAGING THE UNMANAGEABLE!

Human Resource leaders have always been faced with unpredictable days, challenging managers and employees, and balancing the long term best interests of their company and its workers.  In the age of COVID-19, with a shift to remote work; constantly changing rules, regulations and guidance; and more complicated employee issues, the struggles with difficult employees have only magnified.  This presentation will focus on some common issues with which HR is dealing and in a scenario-based interactive discussion, will offer some strategies for managing such issues as off duty behavior, incivility in the workplace, on line harassment, ADA compliance, and employee leave. The goal of the presentation is for you to leave knowing that you do not have to do it alone and that there are strategies for managing the unmanageable.

Program will be presented by Charla Stevens of McLane Middleton

Charla chairs McLane Middleton’s Employment Law Practice Group.  She represents business clients throughout New England with a particular concentration on MA and NH.   She has represented employers before the state and federal courts and administrative agencies of both NH and MA.  Cases she has handled run the gamut from discrimination claims and wage and hour class actions to disputes over non-competition agreements and other restrictive covenants.

She has an extensive risk management practice where she works with employers on compliance and training.  She has also been hired numerous times as an independent external investigator by businesses, independent schools and colleges and universities on matters ranging from discrimination and harassment to sexual misconduct.

She writes and lectures frequently on matters of interest to employers, health care practices and educational institutions.  She formerly held the position of NH State Council Director for the Society of Human Resource Management and is active in the Greater Nashua Human Resource Association (“GNHRA”) and the Northeast Human Resource Association (“NEHRA”).

Charla has been recognized as a leading lawyer in employment law/management by Chambers and Partners, New England Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers.  She has also been ranked as AV Preeminent, the highest ranking given by Martindale Hubbell.

Charla graduated from Merrimack College in 1981 and Boston College Law School in 1984, both with honors.
