    HR State Council of NH Meeting Minutes September 18, 2024

    Present via Zoom:   Andrea Chatfield, Jeanne DiBella, Michelle Gray, Cristi Green, Sara Janes Hoag, Hope Kelly, Debra Lacey, Jessica LaPaglia, Lou Lessig, Jenny Locanthi, Rhoda McVeigh, Lisa Monsein, Nancy Rowell, Dave Twitchell.

    Absent: Kim Brackett, Ryan Cronan, Erin Dallas Patch, Melissa Fisk, Catharine Mirabile, Tina Sharby.

    Dave Twitchell called meeting to order.

    Deb Lacey had submitted the secretary’s report from April previously; she shared screen of minutes for review.  Sara motion to accept minutes; Jessica seconded; all in favor, approved.

    Nancy discussed financials since April.  Below is her report.  Motion to approve treasurer’s report, 2nd and accepted by all.

    SHRM Update – Jenny Locanthi

    Jenny was in North Dakota with Lou Lessig at the convention.   She provided SHRM updates and a power point presentation.  Here is the link:  NH - SHRM Update 9.18.24.pdf  Do note her contact information.  Key dates and deadlines.  Pinnacle Award application deadline was 9/1/2024 (optional) Chapter Audit is 9/30, VLBM is 11/21 – 11/23, CLIF and SCLIF due 12/1.

    MAC Update – Lou Lessig

    Lou was sad as his term is wrapping up.  He’s enjoyed his role with the council very much.  He thanked everyone for their work and dedication to SHRM and the council.   

     

    GSHRC – Jeannie DiBella

    Jeannie shared the 2025 conference is April 2 and 3rd back in North Conway! She recommended making reservations early at the North Conway Grand Hotel; we do have the entire facility reserved for the event.  The theme is Reaching New Heights Elevating HR to New Peaks.

     

    Marketing/social media – Michelle Gray

    Michelle announced Melissa Fisk is the new Marketing/social media person for the council 2025-2027.  Unfortunately, Melissa was unable to attend today’s meeting.  Michelle said registration is going out soon and to save the date for the GSHRC April 2 & 3. Looking for more members to volunteer.

    Certification – Kim Brackett

    Kim has new job at Franklin Pierce was unable to attend today’s meeting.

    Membership – Jessica LaPaglia

    Last Membership meeting was held May 20th – chapter presidents and membership chairs were in attendance.  Best practices were shared and suggestions for increasing membership.

    As a reminder use your resources through SHRM for mailings to target your at large members

    Next quarterly meeting will be help in Oct and invites will go out shortly.

    Legislative Update – Andrea Chatfield

    Looking forward to the Leadership Conference next month.  She is rolling off as Legislative Director as her term ends Dec. Peg O’Brien from McLane will be taking over.  She’s eager to come on the state council.  She said Dave Juvet from BIA is retiring Oct. 31.

    SHRM Foundation – Lisa Monsein

    Lisa shared emails have been sent to chapters with resources to be successful w/ SHRM.

    Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – Sarah Janes Hoag

    Sarah shared no meeting this month.  No update for networking events.  Was in Portsmouth last week, Concord soon.  Happy for input from the group. SHRM dropped the “E” in DEI, did anyone notice?  It is now DI.

    Governance – Catharine Mirabile

    Catharine was unable to attend.  Dave shared she mentioned the Volunteer Leader Playbook, printed last year, shared with entire board.  Every new board member needs to review the Playbook gives them information on SHRM.  Review SHAPE instructions.  CLIF and SCIF due by Dec. 1.  Catharine is new president for Nashua chapter.  Their next meeting is Bridging the Divide, Charla Stephens is speaker.    

    Presidents Reports

    HRA-CG – Rhonda McVeigh

    Year started July 1.  Committees and programs lined up.  Programs start in September. She shared Concord marketing SHRM information.  Name of the game is to grow membership.

    MAHRA – Jessica LaPaglia

    Brie is no longer on the council.  Amy Mayo current president – had a previous commitment.

    MAHRA had their first program – 35 attendees.  They have 10 in person programs scheduled- this year and are scheduled for different day and alternating morning and afternoons.  There will be 10 lunch and learns scheduled.  MAHRA has rolled out a sponsorship opportunity including a Platinum, gold, silver and bronze levels.

    Nashua – Dave for Catharine

    Catharine is new president for Nashua chapter.  Their next meeting is Bridging the Divide, Charla Stephens is speaker.   

    Greater Monadnock – Erin Dallas Patch

    Erin was absent. She is new president replacing Amy Wright.

    Greater Merrimack Valley – Jenny Vining

    We welcomed Jenny as she is new president for the chapter.  Lots happening as there are several positions on the board changing, they are in transition. We have a great group of members and board.  Her email is jenny.vining@outlook.com

    SHRA – Christi Green

    We welcomed Christi as the new Chapter President. Their first Board meeting is Sept. 25th, and she is grateful for a strong group of experienced Board members behind her.  They have 2 open Board positions available; President Elect and SHRM Foundation Chair.  Our Treasurer is moving to Communications Director, and we have elected a new Treasurer, there are a lot of moving pieces on the Board.  They are updating CLIF.  They had a well-attended presentation on Sept. 17th about Performance Management that was excellent.  They have speakers scheduled for meetings through February and are excited about offering a virtual option in addition to in-person meetings. Christi attended the MAHRA meeting and gained some good knowledge around how they operate their Chapter.

    Dave promoted the Leadership conference Oct. 17 save the date, email him if you are attending, he anticipates seeing us all there, bring a guest looking for board members! 

    Hope incoming State Director for 2025 state council, motion to nominate new State Director Elect Jessica LaPaglia, seconded by Lisa, all in favor, approved.  Amy Wright will be new Secretary; she loves tying the chapters together.  Membership role open, Programs role open, Melissa Fisk new Marketing person and Peg O’Brien new Legislation.
