Tina Sharby, Director
Tina made a motion to the board for a $500 SHRM donation.
Todd Fernald seconded the motion; all approved.
Catharine Mirabile – SHRM Northeast MAC Rep
Catharine discussed the following:
- Scholarship Deadline – November 10
- Annual Conference – will be held in Las Vegas
- Roundtable – a survey will be presented to the board
- Dual membership initiative
- Large turnover on boards as well as companies during the pandemic
- Volunteer Leader Resource Center – new platform
Dianna Sporcic- SHRM
Dianna spoke about the following:
- Shape – chapters should report dual membership and retention goals into Shape
- Chapters are required to submit membership dues information
- Share with new Board Volunteers – Board Orientation and Chapter activities by month
Tina Sharby, Director
- Tina attended, in person, the Mt Washington Strategic Conference – all protocols were in place.
- The updated by-laws have been submitted to SHRM.
- Tina has been attending some chapter board meetings and have asked the Presidents to contact her so she can attend others.
- Conference Events – GSHRC – want to keep it in September. There was discussion around whether this conference should be 1 day, 1 ½ days or 2 days. It was felt that 1 ½ days is just right by a survey that stated 60% would prefer this option.
- Jenn Kinville discussed having the conference for 1 day versus 1 ½ days to reduce costs. Vendors prefer more than one day. A survey of all members will be sent out to determine their preference.
- Catharine stated if it is more than 1 day and you stay the night, you get a chance to network outside of the informational setting.
- Andrea also stated we would need to think about the distance in travelling if we made the conference a longer day. If travelling from the north country, it would be too long to travel for one day.
The following events were discussed with the possible months to hold the events.
GSHRC – September
Leadership Conference – April
Legislative Series
Gala – May to promote the HR Profession
- Tina stated that we need a replacement for Jeannie DiBella who is leaving her membership chair and moving on to programming. We also need volunteers to assist Sarah Rossetti with Workforce Readiness.
Membership – Jeannie DiBella
Jeannie asked the chapters to make sure they were on track with their Action Plans and Goals
The CLA membership is December 7. There is also a procedural change for e-mail blasts.
Michelle Gray – Communications/Web
Michelle requested that chapters send her events to put on social media and the website.
Workforce Readiness – Sarah Rossetti
- Dianna Sporcic recommended that Sarah work with other Workforce Readiness Directors. Sarah stated she needed some volunteers to be on the Workforce Readiness Committee. She only has one currently.
Jermaine Moore – Diversity
Jermaine is hopeful he can have a DWC event in person in March.
Jen Horton – SHRM Foundation
Jen is working on obtaining items for the SHRM Foundation.
Hope Kelly – Certification
Hope indicated if you have not reaffirmed your certification, you will need to do it by the November 15 deadline.
Andrea Chatfield – Legislation
- PRO Act – Senator Hassen is on the committee. Andrea sent a letter on behalf of the State Council regarding concerns HR Professionals had with the Act.
- BIA - Seventh Annual Leadership Conference is being presented by Eversouce on November 21 and 22 at the Mountain View Grand Resort, Whitefield, NH
- There are many bills that have been introduced. It will be a very active season and we will see what will be impacted on the HR community.
- The series of webinars that Andrea presented had a good attendance in the past.
- We are unable to plan an in person legislative day due to the pandemic. Andrea is working on a webinar during the legislative season to get something organized.
