    Session Overview

    Employment attorney Ben Wyatt will review key concepts of employment law that human resources professionals can use to safeguard the managers and organizations that they support.  Topics covered will include:

     

    • Best practices related to the creation of written feedback and other forms of documentation
    • Recognizing and saving useful evidence while also avoiding key evidence pitfalls
    • The legal concept of consistent treatment as the cornerstone of an employer’s defense
    • The heightened danger posed by retaliation claims, and the key role of human resources in avoiding dangerous retaliation cases
    • The special legal status of supervisors and the core responsibilities that every supervisor needs to understand

       

      In addition to substantive advice concerning best practices, the session will involve interactive exercises to allow participants to become familiar with utilizing the employment law concepts and human resources methods being discussed.

       

      About our Presenter

      Ben Wyatt is an experienced employment lawyer and was voted Best Local Lawyer in the Monadnock Region in the Keene Sentinel’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Poll.  Ben is the founding partner of the Law Offices of Wyatt & Associates PLLC – a Keene-based law firm that assists large and small employers in developing practical solutions to the challenges of the modern workplace.  Ben routinely represents clients in employment-related litigation, runs trainings for managers and full workforces, and provides employers with counseling and advice concerning both specific employment challenges and compliance with employment laws more generally.  Prior to founding Wyatt & Associates, Ben served as Senior Labor & Employment Legal Counsel at C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc., the tenth largest privately-owned company in the United States.  Earlier in his career, Ben served as a member of the labor and employment group at one of Boston’s largest law firms, where he advised and represented multiple Fortune 500 companies concerning a variety of employment law matters.


      Ben earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School and is currently the President of the Cheshire County Bar Association.  Ben is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
